The French Institute for Andean Studies (IFEA) established in Lima on 14th May 1948 with the name of the French Centre for Andean Studies, is today an Integrated Unit of the French Institutes Abroad and its activities are under the direction of the National Institute for Scientific Research and the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs (UMIFRE 17 CNR-MAE). Pluridisciplinary institution, the IFEA's objective is the development and dissemination of scientific knowledge about the Andean world, including its past and present societies, as well as its environment. The Institute receive French, European and Andean researchers and its cooperation activities are carried out in four Andean countries: Peru, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador.
